Background Information

A while back I asked to be a part of the SDSE. So I started inputing matches and coded an IRC bot that would give the stocks trough IRC for the SDSE. A lot of people put TONS of their time keeping track of all those matches and maintaining the site. I wish I could list here all the people who inputed matches for SDSE cause these are the people that made this site possible. Most of the matches (95%) before 04/14/2001 come straight from the SDSE.

How it began

Unfortunately, In the first week of April 2001, Xris announced that SDSE would be closing its doors on April 14, 2001. I wanted to keep this information available to everyone as myself and I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed looking at the stats and always couldn't wait to see the next update. It was also the only place you could really get a feel of the TFC history. Xris and Blasy decided they wouldn't give away the database nor the code, so I had to start from scratch. I knew there was a lot of work to do to get where the SDSE had left, but with surprise within 3 weeks I was able to code most of what I didn't even know possible.

Version History

First version of the Stocks Exchange had very poor calculation, which gave points in a manner I don't even remember now. =) Version two and version three use identical calculation. The difference between version 2.0 and 3.0 is the use of PHP instead of ASP, and a MySQL database instead of a Microsoft Access DB. Originally we tracked TFC matches only. Then came TFC 5v5 and TFC ADL. Other divisions were tried, but were not succesful. We are always trying to expand our horizons, and will most likely have new divisions out when new games that match our community will be out.

Don't worry about these. That simply means a match has been added after a recalc has been ran. As soon as we run another recalc of the stock values, you will receive the points you are supposed to get!

ps: Recalcs are ran every morning of the week from 6am to 7am EST.

Regular stocks:

There's nothing to hide here. Here's what we use as our calculation for stocks:

• All clans start at 100 points.
• Winning a match will give you a minimum of 1 point.
• Losing a match will remove you a minimum of 1 point.
• Winning the title will give you an extra 2.5% of the opponent stock value.
• Defending the title will give you an extra 5% of the opponent stock value.
• Beating a clan ranked higher than you will give you a bonus of 5% of their stock value.
• Beating a clan ranked lower than you will give you a bonus of 2.5% of their stock value.
• Losing to a clan ranked higher than you will remove you an extra 2.5% of your own stock value away.
• Losing to a clan ranked lower than you will remove you an extra 5% of your own stock value away.
• A Tie will give both clan Value = Value - Value * 0.05 + Opponent * 0.05
• Streaks of 10 wins and over will give the winning clan points equal to their current streak
• The maximum gain a clan will get for a single win is 10% of their own stock value.

Blashy’s PURE Rankings:

These rankings are unbiased and uninfluenced by anyone in anyway. The only catch is clans must have played a minimum of 25 matchs to have a PURE ranking. The way this was done was simply by taking actual statistics from the clans and ranking them based on those numbers.

The statistics used are the following:

• Biggest Win Streak
• Most Wins
• Highest Winning %
• Most Title Matches
• Most Title Reigns
• Biggest Title Run
• Biggest League Streak
• Best Average Win Streak
• Best Average Losing Streak

These are actual accomplishments by the clans; all we did is rank them accordingly.

Ex: If a clan would be #1 in all 9 categories then he would have a total rank # of 9 for the PURE ranking (the best possible ranking), in the end the pure ranking is done from lowest total score of all 9 categories to highest total score.

Some people will say this is not 100% simply because it involves all leagues and the competition is just not the same, as well as not every map type is accounted for. We completely agree with you, although we are positive no other ranking is as accurate.

All of this is still subject to tweaks and changes - we are open to any suggestions you may have.
