wow good to see some of you guys i rememeber as total noobs are still playing the game. Glad you guys stuck it out.

In early TFC noone potshotted or went extra D because early TFC was dominated by the clans who moved over from Quake TF and they brought that system of ethics with them. It changed as more people started playing and got their egos stomped on. Ethics went away and "new tactics" took over. I enjoyed both styles of play, the only thing i hated was all the talking(whining). Less chat more splat.

I'll be back in October if they really do release tf2, demoman better work like it should.

Absolutely! And I was every bit of his definition of the word noob. As the years went on more people whined and more rules were created, which in my opinion, led to a large downfall of the game (amongst other, more obvious things).

ROFL!! Great thread Sutter! Kinda wish I read all this earlier. I could have provided everyone the answer you were all arguing over. It's called OGL, the best TFC ladder ever created and destroyed by whinners that couldn't handle yard D or excessive D pot shotting O or few rules. The more rules STA/TFL/PFL etc placed, the worse the game got. There should only be ONE rule in TFC, DON'T CHEAT. We talk about how great some of these clans are but when they harbor cheaters their record becomes meaningless and tainted. At which point you may as well scrap the clan and start all over. I think the best clans may actually have been those in the lower divisions. lol

OGL's system had ONE ladder and no one had to have a multi losing streak. The system worked. Ironically, it was Zon, the admin, that voiced his dissatisfaction about the lack of rules in OGL.

If a clan wants to do 7 D, the other clan can always go 7 O. You can't and shouldn't set any rules because no matter what method one clan adopts, there is always a counter measure to offset it. I guess the real skill would have meant quick thinking and adaption.

Ok the game is dead today but I still love it! See all of you back in a couple years I hope.

The reason gathers and 4v4s are so much fun is because generally gathers are lopsided and have players that carry your newb ass to victory, have restrictions on mirv classes, and have shitty defensive players on the other team that allow you to actually not bhop, miss concs, spam nades, and get into the flagroom regularly.

I also like how you're all promoting dividing leagues up for an 8 year old game with less than 40 fucking clans left. Hell, why stop there? Let's really promote mediocrity and have 15 different divisions! This way everyone will eventually have their own little precious title ribbon that they can put on their corkboard and sigh with relief with your hands on your hips when looking at it on your den wall 20 years from now, or maybe you're the type that likes to look at your mediocre division title in the bathtub and rub oil all over your chest on a daily basis.

Now don't get me wrong, |D|, unless something drastic changes, will probably never be 10 week double title holders in tfc. That said, I'd much rather be known as one of the top 4-5 clans than to be known as the "best of the 3rd tier". Would you rather your basketball team make it to the sweet 16 or win the NIT? I'd MUCH rather my team make it to the big dance and lose the first game than win the whole damn NIT. How many silver/bronze champs are just reknown for their great title runs?

This game is already pussified enough. After 8 years, leagues are full of rules, some of them absolutely retarded. If you want to play 8v8, not have yard d, and have real limits to how you play, you can go wank yourself with the rest of the eurotrash.
